Day 1: Marrakech ➝ Atlas Mountains ➝ Ait Ben Haddou ➝ Ouarzazate ➝ Dades Gorges
The excursion begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. From there, we will drive to Ait Benhaddou through the High Atlas mountains via the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. Along the way, your driver will stop at the best locations, but you can also request stops at any time.
Upon reaching Ait Benhaddou, we will explore the historic fortified village of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, which has been protected by Unesco since 1987. It has been used as a location for many famous films and TV series, including Gladiator, the Mummy, and Game of Thrones. After lunch, we will travel to Boumalne Gorges via Ouarzazate and the Rose Valley. In Boumalne, we will visit the magnificent rock formations known as monkey fingers before heading to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Dades Gorges ➝ Todra Gorge ➝ Merzouga
After breakfast in your accommodation in Dades Gorges, we will drive to Todgha Canyon, where you will have the opportunity to walk under the towering 300-meter cliffs. In the evening, we will reach Merzouga desert where your guide and camels will be waiting to take you across the dunes to your campsite. You can watch an enchanting sunset from a high dune before spending a memorable night at the camp.
Day 3: Merzouga ➝ Khamlia ➝ Rissani ➝ Draa Valley ➝ Ouarzazate
An early start to the day is rewarded with a spectacular sunrise, which you can watch from the nearest dune to your campsite. After breakfast, you can choose to leave the camp by camel trekking back to Merzouga town or by a 4×4 vehicle. We will stop at the small village of Khamliya, home to the songs of Gnawa, before driving to Rissani, which was once a hub for caravan routes during the old ages and the foundation of the current ruling family of Morocco. If it’s Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, we can visit the city’s market to get a glimpse of a traditional Moroccan souk. Then, we will drive to Ouarzazate via the charming Draa Valley, arriving at your accommodation in the evening.
Day 4: Ouarzazate ➝ Atlas Mountains ➝ Marrakech
After breakfast, we will explore Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa and the gateway to the Sahara desert. It contains the largest studio in Africa, called Atlas Studios, and the historical Taourirt Kasbah. After exploring the city, we will drive to Marrakech via the Atlas Mountains, where you can enjoy stunning views of Berber villages along the way.
